Deeveedeeveedeeeee My super generous parents gave us a DVD Player for Christmas and it has been seeing a lot of use so I am thinking of starting a Flicks section to the left as well. Maybe it's time for a redesign...
But back to the dvds. My parents also bought themselves a DVD player (so media savvy, my folks.) and thnkfully they got the same one. If they come over to babysit I don't have to worry about them being able to keep themselves entertained. Mind you they wouldn't mind having to stay in and watch The Late, Late Show.

Ski-less in Dublin I would give more than my two eye teeth to go ski-ing again this year. I only agreed to have this child as I was promised a ski trip in March. As luck would have it most of my friends for various reasons have been obliged to forego the ski-ing trips this year so it only comes up in conversation with deep sighs and longing tones. A number of Himself's friends are going away together so he gets an earful nearly everyday and really he's at breaking point....
Check out our pix from last year... some day....
Pudge Statistics Garman has reached an historic weight today by our reckoning. He has finally passed the 11lb mark. Today he weighed in at Boob Group (breastfeeding support group) at a whopping 11lb 5.5oz - that's eight and a half ounces since last week! You too would notice the change if I could ever get my ass around to posting some photos of the wee darlin. We think it's a milestone weight because you rarely hear about babies who are born heavier than that.
Doh! I did a bit of shopping last week and as it is awkward to get into most changing rooms with a pram, I didn't try on any of the clothes. I left all the tags on them in case I wanted to return them. One of the women in the Boob Group says to me today, "New jumper?" and I say "Yes actually" as it dawns on me that I've been wandering around all morning with the tag on. It's a very nice geansai and it is this colour.

Contented Little Family I have fallen for the tyrannical Scot's parenting practice. A friend's sister lent me a copy of Gina Forde's Contented Little Baby Book and I'm sold. Hooked. But not totally convinced. I think there is too much pressure placed on the mother: fair enough when the mother chooses to breastfeed and is the only parent at home in the early days due to old fashioned concepts such as maternity leave but a few suggestions on how to include the father wouldn't go astray. For example in the book a day starts at 7am and finishes at 7pm - if we stuck to this Himself would never see the child. Although I realise it is important to establish a routine for a child to ensure they are fed, rested and clean, I strongly believe that life is that which happens outside of the routine. I am glad that Garman goes to sleep at 8pm on the dot but I am even happier that he smiles a lot. Speaking of which I must go and gt him up for his afternoon of fun with me and Mileelers!
Eurosibling As the entry date has now passed and the hopefuls have dropped in their demos, I can reveal to you, readers, that not one but two of my siblings have entered songs to be considered as the Irish entry for the Eurovision. There were other siblings involved but they will remain blameless as they were just being nice. I just sniped and jeered from the sidelines. I am afraid that one of my siblings may devalue his main talent if his song wins - it's cheesier than 5 year old Stilton.
Fix it Fianc So my fab fiance sorted my computer problem by moving the whole kit and caboodle out of the child's room and up to our bedroom (yep that's in our mansion). So now while the child kips I can bore you all with the ups and downs of maternity leave. Hurrah I hear you cry.
Speaking of our mansion, the next big project is finding a proper home for our little bundle of joy and the two of us as well of course!
