Today is the first day of the Sprog Blog. Well tomorrow is actually. I took my last pill this morning. Strictly speaking we still have a week to change our minds. It's hard to believe that it is two years since Vinnie and I decided that we were going to have kids together.
The reasoning behind it is that there are really very few things that are constrained by time except my ability to conceive. We thought about all the things that we might possibly want to do and all of them can wait or can be done with the kid(s) in tow.
So I don't know how much I will have to say here or how soon but I wanted to keep a record of how I feel throughout the whole process, physically and mentally.
When everyone knows that I am pregnant I will be able to upload all these entries.
Very excited and very exciting isn't it?

Ah ye're just a bunch of oul flower wavin' hippies. Myself and me fella were planning a romantic protest for two and now the whole world has jumped on board.
National Demonstration
FEB 15th INTERNATIONAL DAY OF ACTION AGAINST WAR ON IRAQ.
http://irishantiwar.org
On February 15th the largest ever mobilisation against war will take
place with simultaneous mass demonstrations in capital cities across the
globe to protest against US plans to attack Iraq. The protests are aimed
at stopping the current US war drive on Iraq. A war on Iraq will
certainly lead to thousands of civilian deaths and cause chaos across the
Middle East.
The call for the day of action comes from the European Social Forum held
in Florence last November where 60,000 delegates from Europe and across
the world met to discuss global injustice and the war and one million
people took part in a protest against war on Iraq.
The International Day of Action has now been taken up by anti war
activists and organisations across the globe. Mass protests have been
organised in every major European capital and a number of US and Canadian
cities.
The call has now also been endorsed by a conference of anti war activists
that took place in Cairo in December. This important gathering brought
together delegates from across the Middle East, with representatives from
the leading anti war organisations in Europe. The conference included
Egyptian parliamentary representatives, prominent individuals such as
Dennis Halliday and Hans Von Sponeck, both former UN officials in Iraq,
and former Algerian President Ahmed Ben Bella who was elected President
of a new International Coalition Against US Aggression on Iraq.
Finally, the call for Feb 15th is almost certain to be endorsed by the
World Social Forum meeting in Porto Allegre next month, which will add
the involvement of many Latin American countries to the day of action.
Coalitions of all anti war groups and organisations are now being formed
in countries across the globe to ensure an enormous mobilisation on Feb
15th. Ten million are expected to march in Europe alone on that date
Here in Ireland, the Irish Anti War Movement and the Peace and Neutrality
Alliance have joined forces to organise solidarity with the International
Day of Action. This will take the form of a national demonstration in the
capital at 2pm on Sat Feb 15th from Parnell Square finishing with a city
centre rally and followed by a free concert.
We call on all those opposed to the US war drive on Iraq to make their
vioce heard and join the protest on Feb 15th in Dublin.
We are seeking people and groups who will agree to sponsor the National
Demonstration against war on Iraq on Saturday 15th of February 2003 on
the following basis;
1.That we oppose the military assault on Iraq by the USA and it's allies.
2. That we oppose the anti-Islamic racism arising out of the current war
drive.
3. We also call for a halt on attacks on civil liberties and the right to
protest under the guise of the "war on terrorism".
4. We seek justice for the Palestinian people.
5. We seek to develop peaceful alternatives to war to address the reasons
for injustice and conflict in the world.
6. We seek an end to the use of Irish airports and airspace by the US
military and oppose any Irish involvement in a war on Iraq.

Right Online Community Went to the Dublin Development Internet Working Group meeting last night. It was interesting but seriously lacking in direction. There was this one guy there and granted everything he had to say was interesting but I kept having to pull him up and see what it had to do with why we were there. What really annoyed me was that he kept saying it's all very well to think what can we do for community groups in Dublin but we can move beyond that. However the reason I am there is because I work in the Community and Voluntary sector and I am a Dubliner and I want to be part of improving internet access to those who are having difficulty accessing it for some reason. He did mention a very interesting website. Food for thought especially now that I am becoming addicted to this blogging business.

Feel the world Just finished watching "Living with Michael Jackson" on TV3. I know his feelings will be hurt and he has written some of the most amazing pop music ever but Michael Jackson is a freak. I have absolutely no questions about it at all now.
Sunday's child So we actually ended up hanging out with the Smiths again on Sunday! Blaise and Orla and the girls were visiting so I really went to see them. Freagh is getting cleverer all the time. I actually saw the counting in action - very impressive. It was a very pleasant afternoon.
We came home and Vinnie cooked up a feast: Pork steak stuffed with Clonakilty Black Pudding and Apricots - I still feel full.

Cool night in I was invited over to my parents' house for dinner. Mainly to help my mother get things ready. When I arrived you could have cut the atmosphere with a knife. Dad had forgotten to order oil again. This happens every winter on the coldest day of the year. Personally I still thought the house was roasting. I have noticed that they hardly ever use their lovely fireplace so it was a good opportunity to do so. It was a very pleasant evening. However I am absolutely not hanging out with them next Saturday night!
Weekend Goth When I was a teenager this was the name given to kids who only dressed up as Goths at the weekend. These were the kids who didn't flout school rules by wearing twenty earrings and their hair back-combed and varnished into freakish heights with egg and sugar mixes. Well ladies I am a weekday blogger which explains why there are no entries at the weekend. I am too busy having a life and fun.
This weekend I went ski-ing in Kilternan again. We were there just after 11 on Saturday morning and got some practice in before the class started. There were only 5 of us in the class and we had a very posh instructor called William. At one point he said we would definitely enjoy lessons on our recreational ski-ing holidays as the instructors "tend to be jolly humourous peopple". Classic! He was also impressed by my ski-ing abilities. Just call me Frosty.
Vinnie told me on the way home that he reckoned I could easily be a ski instructor some day soon - not because of my awesome ability but because I am posh enough. Hmmm.
